About Red Knot Development

Sustainable agriculture development in rural villages

The solutions to the world’s problems lie in sacrificing ourselves to improve life for others.

We are more than fundraisers. Our staff personally assist farmers and youth to navigate the hardships they encounter.

Red Knot Development is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit in the state of Alabama, USA. All donations are tax-deductible (EIN 86-3170775).

The power to motivate comes from relationships.

The way forward is walking alongside one another.

Accomplish Good

  • Through education-based interventions, we increase capacity for problem-solving and invest in the future.

  • Our initiatives uphold the dignity of our neighbors by providing them both ownership and choice.

  • Relationships and collaboration are key in effecting lasting change. The way forward is by walking alongside others, not in front of them.

  • Appropriate solutions benefit individuals, communities and the planet, today, tomorrow and in the future.

  • We make scale possible by ensuring adoption in neighboring communities is inherent in our work.

Executive Director

Brett Harrison Red Knot Racing Company

Community Development

Brett Harrison moved as a missionary to Tanzania in 2009 to work in areas of church maturation, leadership training and agriculture development. He worked full-time in Christian community development until 2021 primarily with focus on increasing food security among rural people.

Brett is an agriculture development professional with 14 years of experience in sub-Saharan Africa and measurable on-farm results. He is a specialist in conservation agriculture (CA), nitrogen-fixing legumes and climate smart technologies.

Brett is trained in theology, worldview and culture, and accomplished in grassroots sustainable development practices, cross-cultural communication and group facilitation.

Sports and Endurance Racing

Brett is also an experienced endurance athlete, coach, and event organizer. He’s coached numerous runners to PRs, a US cross country team to the state finals, and loads of people from couch to 5K. He created and directs all Red Knot events.

Brett has multiple IronMan finishes, scores of 8+ hour days on bikes, and even a 100-mile ultra win (it was admittedly a small field). The athletic achievement he’s most proud of is an 8:55 finish at Comrades (89km/55mi). All three of Brett’s children (10, 12, 14) are better swimmers than he is, and that keeps him humble.

$1400 pays our executive director’s salary for a month, ensuring all other contributions fund projects directly.
